Fox28 News: Wakarusa is Home to 300 New Jobs
Great news for Wakarusa.
The sign out front says it all, "Utilimaster... hiring 75."
In fact, they are adding about 300 jobs this year.
Utilimaster produces custom vehicles for the delivery industry, cleaning delivery services, the snack and food industry and others.
They say they, too, had tough years in '08 and '09, but their employees worked hard to put them in a position to grow. And things are picking up in the economy.
John Forbes, the President of Utilimaster says, "Our expansion is driven by our customer's business. UPS is a strong customer of ours. As retail volume picks up, as Internet purchases pick up, UPS will enjoy more home delivery which allows us to grow our business."
Forbes says he just used UPS as an example. He says FedEx, Frito-Lay and many others are all starting to see growth, too.
Utilimaster expects they will have gone from a staff of 600 to a staff of 900 this year.
